Stella’s Shawls

“I was once told that prayers kept in Shawls rise to heaven.”

Stella’s Shawl project came to life thanks to a huge passion that I have translated into my current occupation. I took inspiration from the strength, the authenticity and the courage of those who, in the past, have made shawls part of their cultural identity.

Each garment is handmade in Scicli by the Women of Light,
artisans and custodians of the ancient tradition of the Sicilian Shawl, symbol of femininity, shell, home, protection, comfort.

“Each Shawl is a unique piece
every Shawl is made for you.”

“I’m Chiara and I’ve always walked the world on tiptoe”

I left my hometown to follow my heart. If there is something I’m sure about is that there is no wrong in acting for Love.

Twenty years ago I discovered Sicily for the first time. Sicily is welcoming and intriguing, polite and controversial. At that time I still didn’t know that I would hopelessly fall in love with it.

Having arrived from the North, I am an adopted daughter of the South, with its ancestral sea, the light that pierces your eyes, the baroque of certain churches; beautiful and dazzling;
within a short time I became the chosen one by Donna Stella and her ‘a pupa ca balla’.

It was Donna Stella, Sciclitana, custodian of the petals thrown at Gioia, who gave me the first Shawl.

Donna Stella left me an important legacy, to promote and spread the old Sicilian shawl tradition throughout the world. And that is my job and my mission.

“Because there is no future without memory of the past.”
