“It was not a choice, things developed spontaneously on their own. The natural evolution of events has led to the creation of extraordinary types of fiber.”

My desire to achieve excellence made me search for the most precious yarns, produced exclusively in Italy by companies that guarantee high quality raw material, innovative manufacturing processes and respect for the traditional approach.

Merino

Over the centuries, generations of devoted shepherds have been raising flocks of Merino sheeps in New Zealand, where they have found their ideal habitat, creating high quality Merino wool. The fleece of Merino’s sheeps is composed of very fine hairs that give yarn thermo-regulating properties protecting the garments against the summer heat as well as against the winter cold. Merino wool is partially flame retardant, it can reach up to 50 SPF, does not charge electrostatically, is biodegradable and does not shrink. “Pure Virgin Wool” means that the yarn is made from 100% non-recycled wool.
The use of this fiber in Stella’s Shawls allows the garment to be seasonless.

Bamboo / Silk

Bamboo cultivation creates zero-waste, it does not require pesticides or fertilizers. Bamboo is a plant that grows rapidly and regenerates every three to four years, that’s why its use is 100% sustainable. Bamboo fiber is good for the skin and the environment. Bamboo Kun is the natural agent found in the fiber and it’s what gives bamboo fabric its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties and the ability to withstand over 100 washing cycles. It absorbs moisture, sweat and regulates body temperature by keeping it one / two degrees cooler. It Protects from UV rays. Bamboo garments are stronger, fresher and smell nice for a longer time. Stella’s Silk and Bamboo Shawl is a precious, soft and shiny garment. A real must wearable any time of the year.

Silk / Cotton

Silk and cotton are woven together with advanced artistic skills to create luxurious garments comparable to a work of art. The Shawl pattern is entirely and meticulously drawn and sewn by hand. Silk makes Shawls suitable for cool summer nights and the first chilly days of spring. Shawls are a versatile accessory that complete an elegant outfit. The combination of silk and cotton is meant to recall the memory of the type of fringes used in the traditional Sicilian Shawl.

Alpaca

Alpaca wool has no lanolin, it’s hypoallergenic, it’s itch-free and it’s particularly appreciated for its luster, considered sacred by the Incas. It’s five times warmer than traditional sheep’s wool, it has high warmth retention properties and does not shrink over time. Stella’s Shawl in Alpaca is perfect to be worn during the colder seasons.

Loro Piana Cashmere

Hircus goats have been raised on the Inner and Outer Mongolian highlands by generations of shepherds who still live and work in one of the most hostile places in the world, with extreme temperature ranges, from day to night and from season to season. The Hircus goat is one of the few animals capable of living in one of the harshest environments on the entire planet.  The Hircus goats are able to live without effort through the alternation of the seasons since they are equipped with a coat that protects them from rain, sun and dust and with an extremely protective undercoat from which the precious fiber is obtained. Cashmere has thermo-regulating properties protecting the garments against the summer heat as well as against the winter cold, it’s itch-free, it is hypoallergenic and the natural dyes are absolutely non-toxic. Stella’s Shawl in Loro Piana Cashmere allows the garment to be wearable all year long. Loro Piana yarn was created for ChiaraIs to evoke the ancient culture of the Sicilian Shawl.

Baby Cashmere

Mongolian breeders wait for the perfect moment to collect Baby Cashmere, the wool is obtained from Hircus kid goats under-fleece within their first year of age because it is more precious than the one of the young adults. The best time to do this is between May and June, when the wind calms down and the weather gets warmer. The fiber is taken through a delicate combing process that takes place only in Spring. Today as in the past, these goatherds still repeat the same gestures, with love and patience respecting the animals and the seasonality. Baby Cashmere represents the most precios and finest wool that kid goats develop to maintain a constant body temperature of 15 degrees. Baby Cashmere is 15% finer than traditional Cashmere. Baby Cashmere has thermo-regulating properties protecting the garments against the summer heat as well as against the winter cold, it’s itch-free, it is hypoallergenic and the natural dyes are absolutely non-toxic. The use of Baby Cashmere in Stella’s Shawl enhances its lightness and allows it to be wearable any time of the year.
